Frequently Asked Questions

What is Radical Remission?

“Radical remission” is a term that refers to remission that occurs either without conventional medical treatment, after conventional treatment has failed to work, or when conventional and complementary methods are used in conjunction to overcome a dire prognosis.

What is the Radical Remission Project?

The Radical Remission Project was born out of Dr. Kelly Turner, PhD’s dissertation research on Radical Remission (RR). As Dr. Turner began to research RR as part of her PhD from the University of California at Berkeley, she realized that the opinions of two groups of people were typically missing from the 1,000+ cases of RR published in medical journals – 1) the survivors themselves, and 2) alternative healers. Because Western doctors do not currently have an explanation for why RR’s occur, Dr. Turner decided to ask these two ignored groups what they think can lead to a Radical Remission. Her dissertation research involved a year-long trip around the world during which she traveled to 10 different countries in order to interview 20 Radical Remission survivors and 50 alternative healers about their techniques for healing cancer. Since then, her research has continued, and Dr. Turner has now analyzed over 1,500 cases of Radical Remission.

Will Radical Remission help me find a cure for my diagnosis?

Radical Remission, as a research project, does not offer any guarantees of remission or healing from using the 9 key factors. The book and the website are tools for research and study, as well as ways to connect those experiencing health issues with stories of those who have overcome them through practices alternative to modern western medicine. While a foolproof cure is not offered, countless experiences and practices can be found to help you in your search for healing.

My family member/friend just received a diagnosis. What can I do to help them?

The Radical Remission website is set up to where you can use the Search Page to find healing stories of people with specific diagnoses and circumstances. Many of these healing stories come from friends and family members of patients. You are encouraged to find these stories and read about what these people did to encourage and help their loved ones through their healing journeys, and find encouragement in them yourself.

If your family member/friend is at a point where they are open to advice and suggestions, you are encouraged to direct them to the website as well, so they may find stories similar to theirs and receive hope and advice from them.

How can I get in touch with someone whose profile I read on the site?

Once someone creates a profile on the Radical Remission website, other website users may comment on their profile with words of encouragement and questions. Radical Remission website users are then able to respond to any comments on their profile, should they choose to.

I don't have cancer. Is Radical Remission still for me?

The Radical Remission Project solely studied cancer patients at its beginning, but it now includes all forms of health issues, from mental health to viral diseases, and everything in between. The Project also welcomes friends and family members of those with health issues, especially those who have walked closely with someone going through a diagnosis. Health practitioners are encouraged to create profiles on the website as well, sharing the details of their practice as a resource for patients seeking information.
